Prema njegovim re?ima, da bi jedan takav rotacioni motor opravdao ulaganja u njegov razvoj i proizvodnju, trebalo bi da se ugrađuje u najmanje 100.000 automobila godi?nje, ?to je u sada?njim ekonomskim okolnostima neostvarivo.
Takođe, Kogai je napomenuo da ovi motori imaju ?iroku mogućnost primene i da osim benzina kao pogonsko gorivo mogu da koriste vodonik i kerozin. Kompanija Mazda je okon?ala proizvodnju rotacionih motora u junu 2012. godine kada je proizvoden poslednji primerak modela Mazda "RX-8" sa rotacionom motorom.
